:)!

Honestly, i have been worrying, and kind of wondering about how i am doing here.
Then today i found out..

I just booked a beauty for YSL (saint laurent), which is a pretty big name in fashion.
Then, today i also found out that i booked a HUGE fashion campaign that's throughout all of Asia.
I cant say what it is for right now, but i will when its all done with.

The lesson i have learned from this trip, is to be very patient, and no matter what, always think positive.
I know it gets hard, i know it does, but things come to people who wait. I'm not going to lie and say that
sense Ive been here, every day was a good one, because it wasn't. But i encourage any model, who is away
and they feel as if they want to give up, just to stick it through! A lot of things can happen over night.

Anyways, that's really all the news i have for everyone.
I know it might get frustrating that i don't blog enough, but it gets hard to find interesting things to tell you!
Please, if you have any question, just ask! Id love to answer them.

Macau and Christmas holidays

Sense i haven't wrote in here for a few days now, i have lots, and lots to tell everyone!
Last Thursday, my mom and i had to make the trip to Macau (china). We heard great things
about it, and sense i has to castings that day because of Christmas, we went.
The ferry ride there, took about an hour and 15 minutes.. not too bad right? We thought the
same thing until the boat started rocking back and fourth, it was kind of rough on our stomachs.
When we Arrived in Macau, and stepped one foot out of the ferry terminal.. our eyes went wide.
We thought, "where do we go, how do we get to the main city, and why is there so many girls dressed
in tiny dresses throwing brochures in our face for a casino?"

So, we decided to just walk, until we seen some sort of easy transportation..
Then, this little old man rode up to us on his little bike, with a wagon attached to the back.
He offered us a ride to the "city center" and told us that we were not big woman so we only pay
$150.  Being as scared as we were to jump onto that wagon that was attached to a bicycle,
we still went for it, and actually had a lot of fun to! We were driving in and out of traffic, and merging
into lanes. We had local people laughing at us, and some in cars trying to talk to us, it was pretty crazy.
When we made it to our destination, ( a very good restaurant ) we both felt proud that we actually arrived to
the restaurant in one piece!

After our dinner, we walked around a bit, and shopped a little. Than it was getting pretty late, so we decided
to go back to HK. We wanted to walk back to the ferry terminal, which took us about an hour. When we got there, we found out that the next ferry wasn't until 11 pm. Keep in mind it was only 830.
So we went and walked some more, and some more, and some more. Around 930ish, we got tired of walking, so we just wanted to go and wait for our ferry. Our ferry came right at 11, and our ride home was only about 45 minutes because we were going REALLY fast..
So that's my Macau story - oh, and did i say the Macau is like a mini vegas?

For our Christmas holidays, we kind of laid low. We watched some tv movies, and went out for a nice dinner at a family owned Ukrainian restaurant. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was just right!
We were surprised though, that there were soooo many people out on Christmas night, the streets were packed like it was just another day. Back home, my little town would have been dead, and nothing would have been open! We found it really cool.

Until next time :)

Even models get pimples!

Today i had another job, going into it, i thought it was just going to be a beauty.
Well, it was a beauty.. just a lot different then what i thought it was going to be like..
It was for a skin care add, yes! that means blemish add also.
So, what they had me doing was pretending to wash my face, and pretending to put pimple cream on.
For one shot, they even put little black dots all over my face to make it look like a had pimples.

I thought i needed to share that little story, not only because its funny, but also because that's the only
major exciting thing that has happened to me in the past few days. LOL

Fun day!

Today, my mom and i decided to go and try out the "TRAM".
What the tram does is takes you all the way up to the mountain peak, and you can see all of Hong kong.
The ride there only takes five minutes, and it is pretty scary, its like a 90 degree angle all the way up.
After you get off of the tram, there's a shopping mall, restaurants, and a wax museum! The wax museum

was amazing, and a lot of fun. Its incredible how they can make wax figures look so real.

Funny story..
While i was walking around looking at the wax figures, i wanted my mom to take a picture of me pretending to play this piano. All of a sudden this girl went to go hug me from behind, as i moved to look at what she was doing, she screamed and ran away. She thought i was a wax doll, and she wanted to take a picture with me.. haha. Then, after that happened, all of these people wanted to take pictures with me, like i was some sort of famous wax figure. After about five minutes, there was a line of people, waiting to take a picture with me.

After we walked around, and enjoyed the scenery, and shops. My mom and i felt hungry, and went to "Bunbba gump shrimp". It was really cool because the restaurant was located at the very top of the building, so when we sat down and ate, we could see ALL of HK at night. Its was really amazing, plus the food was delicious. As a bonus, this day trip only cost ed us $80 dollars US. The tram, museum, food, and a scary house. It was great!

Until next time,
xoxo

The Hong kong market

Now that i am going to be hitting the three week mark, i feel as if i can provide some information about the HK market..

1) Your agency: Other models and myself both found that our agency here, are not as nice and talkative as our mother agents. Don'T get me wrong, they are still very nice, they just don't spend a lot of time with you personally. Remember they do have a lot of girls always flying in and out of hong kong, so its difficult for them to be buddy-buddy with everyone.

2) Castings: I find going to castings here, is so weird! The clients want their models in full makeup when they arrive at the casting. Foundation, mascara, lip gloss, blush, and even eyeshadow at times. Yeah, its nice that you are able to do your self all up, but then your skin breaks out because of wearing so much makeup all the time. Everyday you have 1-5 castings.

3) Jobs: So, the jobs are actually fun here! Down here they don't like to be boring, so when i walk on to set, they always have a scene created behind me, not just a solid colour background. The magazine shoots are really short, 4-5 hours only, which is always nice! Also, down here, they pay models for pretty much anything.. they will pay a model to just go to a designers store, and try on her clothes, and that's it..
Its pretty cool. But, there is sooo much competition down here, that's why you go to so many castings.

4) Getting settled: Before i cam to hong kong, my agent told me that the first two weeks would be the hardest, and i can tell you now that this statement is very, very true. I had a really difficult time getting used to things, and i missed everyone at home so badly! (i still do, of course). But, things have gotten 100% easier, i really love it here now. There is always something going on, and lots to look at. Its beautiful.

5) Parties: Here's the deal with partying here, its everywhere! They call it the party city.
Some models really enjoy it, and go almost every night. I can see how its so appealing, i mean you get treated like a superstar, and get free everything! But, that's not for me, and that's not what I'm here for. So, i choose to stay away from that scene. That's just my choice anyways.

If anyone has any questions for me, please feel free to ask, and also let me know if your reading my blog!
Id love to hear from you.

First set of tears!

Received my first set of tears today, it is so weird having pictures of me smiling haha, I'm so used to being fierce. I am really glad I'm getting smiley pictures in my portfolio though! :)

Yesterday's shoot went really well, i got a lot of wonderful feedback, which was great to hear because i was
sooo incredibly nervous to shoot bikini/lingerie. I'm excited to see the results from the shoot, but I'm going to have to wait until the 27th. Its really funny watching hair stylist feel how thick my hair is, their jaws drop, and their eyes go wide. I also always get asked if i am wearing contacts, its like they almost don't believe my answer, haha.

Today i had a casting for a major hand bag brand here in hk, which would be amazing if i got!
I also had a casting for the Quicksilver runway show, which is really cool.

But, here are the pictures from the magazine..

enjoy!

The two week mark.

It's been a couple days sense i have written in my blog, Ive just been so busy. I guess i should write in it a lot more, because it would be very cool to look back on later in life, (and for everyone to read of course)!

My job went well, they were all really happy, and so fascinated about my eyes. Everyone points at my eyes and says ( big, big eyes!) haha.
Jobs and castings here are so different then back home, i find the clients to be kind of cold, and not really talkative, but still nice. The jobs go by so quick, its so fast paced.

Tomorrow i have a bathing suit magazine job, I'm kind of nervous for it, but I'm sure it will be fun and and very different for me, sense i haven't really done a shoot like that before. I will keep you all posted on how it went, promise! Today, my mom and i went out for lunch at this Italian place ( BAD IDEA) it was horrible.
We both got pasta, mine was supposed to have shrimp in it, and they only gave me 2 pieces of shrimp..
Then, my mom got a scallop pasta, and they only gave her 1 scallop.. plus both of our meals were not that good at all. I also find i am to nice, because whenever i say thank you, nobody ever acknowledge that i say it.
Its kind of weird to me, I'm so used to being polite, and people being polite back haha.

Anyways, I'm going to go for a walk now, and ill update soon.
xxoo

Feeling more comfortable.

Booked my second job yesterday, yay!

I'm starting to feel more comfortable around here now, such as getting around, and knowing where things are! I'm also am getting very familiar with the subway, its actually fairly easy.
Yesterday i got introduced to these fresh squeezed veggie and fruit juices, they're so amazing, and delicious. And only 2 bucks for one! which is always wonderful.
I'm starting to get used to our little apartment, but then again, we don't spend too much time in it haha.

I find that as each day goes by, certain things get slightly easier...
But i miss my family and boyfriend like crazy, but skype helps with that!

I am just really happy that I'm experiencing this, and hopefully get to experience many more countries!

Adventures!

I survived my first week in Hong Kong, I had my ups and downs, but i got through it.
sooo, YAY!!!!

Today, my mom and i decided to take a long walk, and explore a little.
We found this really cool Japanese restaurant, the meals were huge, and it only cost $15 dollars for both of
us to eat. It was sooo yummy. We also shopped around a little, and we discovered a H&M! we thought that it would have different things then ours in Vancouver, but no, its all the same. BUT cheaper, of course.

The stores here are just so unique and different, people in Vancouver would go CRAZY over the things
you can buy for photo-shoots. There is this one store, just filled with hats and wigs! Its like a big warehouse.
Hong kong is the place to shop, that's for sure!

Tomorrow, i have a big day filled with castings..
I have a casting for a TV commercial, one for a fashion catalogue, then one for a watch campaign..
and I'm sure more to come when my phone beeps, hahaha.
Its soo different here, my agency MSG's me my casting addresses, then i have to find my way to each one.
It sounds easy, but each casting takes like, 2-6 subways to get to. Because they are usually so far away from each other. Plus, i usually only have 1 hour to get to each casting.
I hope that it will get easier.

Anyways, here are some pictures from my little adventure today.

Day 6 - off for the weekend

Ive been so busy these past few days, its been crazy hectic. On Thursday i had my job, which went by soo fast and went really well! Yesterday, i had a casting for a major brand here in Hong Kong, the a casting for a shoe catalogue. Yesterday i finally learned about how rude models can be, its really sad actually.

Now, starting today (Saturday) i am off or the weekend.
My mom and i might venture around the city a bit, sense we haven't gotten around to that yet,
maybe, even do some shopping!!!!! We are both dying to buy cheap clothes and shoes !
